September Trip to Montesson

Un voyage très agréable ! Masons' coach transported 25 members from Thame to Montesson, with with six travelling by car. Liz Barker had organised a quiz for the journey and this proved very popular. As usual, we were welcomed at the Town Hall with aperitifs. On Saturday we visited Senlis, where our excellent guide led us through the old, winding streets and then gave us a very good introduction to the cathedral. We then went to the Pavillon de Manse - Moulin des Princes in Chantilly for our lunch followed by a visit to the museum which tells the story of the Grandes Eaux. ThePavillon attests to the scientific and technical progress in hydraulic sciences since the 17th century. After lunch we visited Auvers sur Oise where we spent the afternoon following in the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh. On Sunday we had an Ox Roast BBQ lunch with a Country and Western theme. We didn’t quite make the line dancing as we had to get back to the Mairie for the farewell speeches before setting off.
