Montesson 16th-18th September 2022
We are delighted that our annual trip to Montesson has resumed following 2 years of Covid travel restrictions.
We are also delighted to welcome the new members who took part, meaning that 24 people made the journey to Montesson in a large comfortable coach as opposed to a cramped minibus.
One of our members who took part has written this short account of the weekend:

Thank you so very much to all of the people in Montesson who made our 21st visit to their town so enjoyable. The weekend for the 3 towns in UK, France and Germany was well organised, and it was good to meet people from the EU. Our hosts as always were very hospitable and very generous.

We left Dover in bright sunshine, which continued for the weekend.

The trip on the Seine was superb, and the walk afterwards in areas of the Ile de France was very well organised. The archaeology displays at Notre Dame were very interesting.

There was a very enjoyable civic reception in the Saturday evening, plus a very enjoyable dance. Afterwards there was a spectacular fireworks display.

The weekend is a special one in France, in that it is one for which there is free entry to most museums. Many of us went that morning to Saint-Germain-en-Laye to enjoy the walks, market, unusually car-free streets, and free entry to various buildings.

Sadly, we couldn’t stay for the Sunday afternoon carnival celebrations, as we had to return to the ferry.
